AFNS TODAY TEST EXPERIENCE – DI KHAN CENTER

Assalam o Alaikum everyone. I gave my AFNS test today at DI Khan Center in the first batch. There were around 30 candidates in our first batch overall, and from what I observed only about 3 candidates passed, while many unfortunately could not clear the test. The test was genuinely difficult, especially because of time pressure and conceptual academics.

The verbal intelligence portion went much better for me because almost all the question types were covered in the lectures of EduSmart and Sir Faizan. The methods Sir taught for series, coding, blood relations, age questions, day/date problems and mathematical reasoning were exactly the type of tricks needed in the test.

Some verbal questions I remember were:

  • If 123 → 6, 345 → 12, 567 → ?
  • After arranging “Rapis”, what category does it belong to?
  • After arranging “Japan”, what category does it belong to?
  • If a train is 3× faster than a car and the car covers X km in Y time, how much distance will the train cover in the same time?
  • If the 4th day of the month is Tuesday, the 26th day will be?
  • If F is the son of E and E is the daughter of D, how is D related to F?
  • What is half of 9/90?
  • If I am 10 years old and my brother is twice my age, what will be our age ratio after 10 years?
  • B2, G5, L8, Q11, ?
  • If the population of a city increases by 10% annually, what will be the population after 2 years if the current population is 100,000?

The non-verbal intelligence portion was also tricky, but the techniques Sir Faizan explained worked really well. Rotation, shading change, movement of shapes, missing figures and odd figures followed the same logic taught in the lectures. Some questions also felt very similar to the practice questions.

The academic portion was the hardest part for many candidates. Alhamdulillah, around 4–5 questions were from concepts covered in the lectures, and approximately 15 questions were from or very similar to the paid notes.

Biology

  • During which stage of meiosis does crossing over occur?
  • Which part of the nephron is mainly responsible for selective reabsorption?
  • Which hormone raises blood calcium level?
  • Which cells are mainly responsible for antibody production?
  • What happens to the oxygen dissociation curve when CO₂ concentration increases?
  • Which enzyme breaks down hydrogen peroxide into water and oxygen?
  • Which part of the brain controls body temperature and hunger?
  • What is the function of the loop of Henle?

Chemistry

  • What is the hybridization of carbon in ethyne?
  • Find the oxidation state of Mn in KMnO₄.
  • Which element has the highest electronegativity?
  • What happens to gaseous equilibrium when pressure is increased?
  • Which compound gives a positive Tollens’ test?
  • Which type of intermolecular force is strongest in water?
  • What is the geometry of a molecule with sp³ hybridization?
  • Which factor does not change the equilibrium constant?

Physics

  • If the velocity of an object is doubled, what happens to its kinetic energy?
  • Two resistors of 6 Ω and 3 Ω are connected in parallel. Find the equivalent resistance.
  • Which quantity remains constant during uniform circular motion?
  • What is the relationship between frequency, wavelength and wave speed?
  • A convex lens forms a real image. What should be the position of the object?
  • Which electromagnetic radiation has the highest frequency?
  • If momentum is doubled while mass remains constant, what happens to kinetic energy?
  • What is the SI unit of electric potential difference?

English

English was also a little tricky and included both vocabulary and grammar.

Some questions were like:

  • Identify the type of adverb in the sentence:
    She spoke softly.
Options included adverb of manner, time, place, and frequency.
  • Identify the type of adverb:
He always reaches school on time.
  • Choose the correct conjunction:
I wanted to go outside, ___ it was raining.
  • Choose the correct conjunction:
Study hard ___ you will not pass the test.
  • Which word is a conjunction in the sentence?
Ali and Ahmed went to the market.
  • Choose the correct coordinating conjunction.
  • Choose the correct subordinating conjunction.
  • Synonym of Meticulous
  • Antonym of Reluctant
  • Synonym of Abundant
  • Choose the correct preposition:
    She is proficient ___ English.
  • Identify the adjective in a sentence.
  • Identify the adverb in a sentence.
  • Choose the correct article: a, an, or the.
  • Choose the grammatically correct sentence.
  • Identify the correctly spelled word.
  • Select the correct passive voice.
  • Change an active sentence into passive voice.
  • Choose the correct tense.
  • Identify the correct use of has/have/had.
  • Select the sentence with the correct subject-verb agreement.
  • Choose the correct meaning of a difficult vocabulary word.

The biggest lesson from today is that speed matters a lot. Even when you know the answer, spending too much time on one question can create problems later.

A special thank you to EduSmart and Sir Faizan. Almost all the verbal intelligence patterns were already explained in Sir’s lectures, and the non-verbal tricks worked exactly as taught. In academics, around 4–5 questions were related to the lectures, while approximately 15 questions were from or very similar to the paid notes. This preparation helped me a lot in such a difficult test.

JazakAllah Sir Faizan and EduSmart for all the guidance and preparation.

Best of luck to all upcoming AFNS candidates. Revise the lectures, practice intelligence with a timer, prepare the paid notes properly, and also revise grammar topics such as adverbs, conjunctions, prepositions, articles, tenses, and active/passive voice.

May Allah give everyone success. Ameen.
