AFNS Eligibility Criteria | Who Can Apply for AFNS?

The Armed Forces Nursing Service (AFNS) in Pakistan Army offers a distinguished career path for females to serve as commissioned officers (Lieutenant) after completing their training. Applicants can join either as BSc Nursing (Fresh) candidates or as Trained Nurses.

Below is the breakdown of the eligibility criteria based on the 2025/2026 selection guidelines:

Who Can Apply for AFNS?

Basic Requirements

• Gender: Female applicants only.
• Nationality: Must be a citizen of Pakistan, including Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. Dual nationals must relinquish any other nationality upon final selection.
• Marital Status: Must be unmarried, or a widow, or legally separated/divorced without any legal encumbrances.

Age Limits

• BSc Nursing Candidates: Must be between 17 to 25 years old at the time of application.
• Trained Nurses: Must be between 18 to 28 years old.

Educational Qualifications

• BSc Nursing (Fresh Candidates):
  • Matriculation: Must have completed Matric with Science (Biology) with at least 60% marks.
  • F.Sc (Pre-Medical): Must have completed F.Sc (Pre-Medical) with at least 50% marks.
• Trained Nurses:
  • Must possess a Nursing Diploma and Midwifery, registered with the Pakistan Nursing Council (PNC), or a BSc Generic Nursing or Post RN BSc Nursing.

Physical Standards

• Height: A minimum of 5 feet (152.4 cm).
• Weight: Must meet the required weight standard, calculated using BMI (Body Mass Index).
• Medical Fitness: Must be in good health, passing the medical fitness test.

Ineligibility Conditions

Certain conditions may deem applicants ineligible:

• If multiple selection processes have rejected them multiple times.
• If they are medically unfit as per the standards set by the Pakistan Army.

Application & Selection Process

• Registration: Online applications are generally accepted from June to August.
• Selection: The selection process includes written tests, a medical examination, and an interview. The General Headquarters (GHQ) makes the final selections.
• Service Bond: Once selected, candidates will undergo training and sign a 10-year service bond as part of their commitment to the Pakistan Army.
