AFNS Initial Test Experiences-5
AFNS TODAY TEST EXPERIENCE – HYDERABAD CENTER
Name: Mehak Noor
Center: Hyderabad
Status: Not Passed
Preparation: EduSmart Rapid Session – 9 Days
Assalam o Alaikum everyone. Today I appeared in my AFNS test at Hyderabad center. Unfortunately I could not clear the academic portion, but I still wanted to share my experience because it may help upcoming candidates.
My preparation time was very short. I joined the EduSmart Rapid Session and prepared for only around 9 days, so I already knew that I had to cover a lot in very limited time.
I reached the center early. First, our documents were checked properly. My advice is to take all original documents, marksheets, domicile, CNIC/B-Form and Hope Certificate if applicable, because document verification is strict and incomplete documents can create serious problems before the test even starts.
After verification we were taken to the computer lab. The system and overall arrangements were good.
Verbal Intelligence
Alhamdulillah, my verbal portion was very good and I cleared it comfortably.
Most of the questions were from the same concepts that Sir Faizan taught us in the EduSmart Rapid Session. Honestly, considering that I had prepared for only 9 days, I was really happy with my intelligence performance.
Questions included:
- Percentage
- Profit and loss
- DMAS
- Coding-decoding
- Analogies
- Counting vowels
- Odd one out
- Ranking
- Common sense
- Blood relations
- Distance and speed
Some questions were like:
- 20 km is covered in 1 hour. How much distance will be covered in 80 minutes?
- My brother’s sister is your mother. What is my relation to you?
- If the price of an item increases by 20% and then decreases by 20%, is the final price equal to the original price?
- Complete a coding or alphabet series.
- Find the odd word from the given options.
Almost all the verbal concepts felt familiar because Sir Faizan had practiced the same types repeatedly.
Non-Verbal Intelligence
Non-verbal was also manageable and I cleared this portion as well.
There were many questions related to:
- Arrows
- Figure matrix
- Clockwise and anticlockwise rotation
- Figure series
- Water image
- Classification
- Missing figures
- Shading patterns
The tricks taught in EduSmart helped a lot, especially in rotation and arrow questions. Some figures looked confusing at first, but when I applied the method Sir Faizan had explained, they became much easier.
My intelligence portion overall went really well, and for that I genuinely want to say thank you to Sir Faizan. In just 9 days, the Rapid Session gave me enough confidence to clear both verbal and non-verbal.
Academic Portion
The academic portion was the difficult part for me, and unfortunately this is where I could not clear the test.
The questions were tricky and confusing, and I felt that Physics and Chemistry had much more weightage compared to Biology.
Physics
Physics had the highest number of questions in my test.
Some questions were like:
- What is the unit of resistivity?
Ohm / Ohm-meter / Ohm per meter - If a body covers 20 km in 1 hour, how much distance will it cover in 80 minutes?
- A resistor has resistance R. If its length is doubled and area remains constant, what happens to resistance?
- If velocity is doubled, what happens to kinetic energy?
- What is the relation between power, voltage and current?
- Which quantity remains constant in uniform circular motion?
Physics was quite conceptual, so formulas alone were not enough.
Chemistry
Chemistry also had many questions, especially from:
- Periodic table
- Acids and bases
- Chemical reactions
- Oxidation/reduction
- Bonding
- Enzymes and biochemical terms
Some questions were like:
- Which is the strongest acid among the given options?
- What is the oxidation state of an element in a given compound?
- Which factor changes reaction rate but does not change equilibrium constant?
- Which element has the highest electronegativity?
- Cytochrome oxidase belongs to which type of enzyme?
Chemistry options were quite close to each other, so concepts needed to be clear.
Biology
Biology was surprisingly less in my test. There were only a few questions.
Topics included:
- Cell
- Mitochondria
- Diseases
- Cardiac cycle
- Blood circulation
Some questions were like:
- Approximately what percentage of cardiac output goes to the kidneys?
- Mitochondria are known as the powerhouse of the cell because they produce what?
- Which part of the cell is responsible for ATP production?
- Which organ receives a major portion of cardiac output?
English
English also had a few questions. Mostly grammar and vocabulary.
Questions included:
- Antonyms
- Synonyms
- Prepositions
- Sentence correction
Some questions were like:
- Choose the correct preposition in a sentence.
- Find the antonym of a given word.
- Find the synonym of a difficult word.
- Correct the sentence: He is devoted ___ his work.
- Identify the correct use of conjunction.
My Overall Experience
I cleared both verbal and non-verbal, but unfortunately could not clear the academic portion.
Still, I am really thankful to EduSmart and Sir Faizan because I had only 9 days of preparation through the Rapid Session, and even in that short time I was able to clear both intelligence sections confidently.
Sir Faizan’s way of explaining percentages, profit and loss, coding, ranking, blood relations, arrow tricks, rotations and figure patterns really helped me during the actual test.
I could not pass today, but I am still satisfied that my intelligence preparation was strong. My main weakness was academic preparation, especially Physics and Chemistry, and I would advise upcoming students to give these subjects extra time.
Thank you so much Sir Faizan and EduSmart for your efforts.
The Rapid Session genuinely helped me a lot in such a short preparation period.
Best of luck to all AFNS aspirants. Prepare intelligence with proper tricks, but please do not ignore Physics, Chemistry and English grammar. May Allah give everyone success. Ameen.
