AFNS Initial Test Experiences & Past Mcqs

AFNS Initial Test Experiences
Most Repeated Questions With Answers
Below are two authentic student experiences from different ASRC centers,

Experience 1
Candidate Name: Laiba Shah
Center: ASRC Lahore
Result: Passed (Alhamdulillah)
Test Flow
Today I appeared in the AFNS initial test at ASRC Lahore. First, the staff completed document verification. After that, the test was conducted on computer.
Intelligence Section
Verbal portion was heavily based on repeated concepts. Most questions were from comparison, short reasoning, and basic arithmetic patterns. One common type was “taller/shorter” logic:
A is taller than B. C is taller than A. D is taller than B. Who is the tallest?
Another simple numerical example that appeared:
2 + 2 / 2
Non-verbal was more practice-based. The paper included many diagram questions where part of the shape was missing and we had to pick the correct option to complete the pattern. Similar pattern-completion questions came repeatedly.
Academic Section
The academic portion was the most challenging part. Many girls struggled with it, and a large number could not clear the academic section. I personally focused strongly on academic preparation, which helped me a lot.
Some academic questions asked were:
- The human body is immune to which disease?
Answer: Smallpox - For which disease no vaccine is yet available?
Answer: Malaria - Which is known as the queen of spices?
Answer: Cardamom - Which pair belongs to cold-blooded animals?
Answer: Frogs and snakes - Approximately how many muscles are in the human body?
Answer: About 700
Physics-based questions also appeared:
- Why is the speed of sound greater in solids than liquids?
Answer: Because solids have high elasticity - Why does a water bubble shine?
Answer: Due to total internal reflection - Which instrument is used in a submarine to see objects on the sea surface?
Answer: Periscope - On which principle does a rocket work?
Answer: Conservation of momentum
Experience 2
Candidate Name: Hania Baloch
Center: ASRC Quetta
Result: Passed (Alhamdulillah)
Intelligence Section
Verbal intelligence was mostly repeated from common patterns and practice material. Non-verbal required good practice; figure and pattern-based questions were common.
Academic Section (Repeated Questions)
Academic questions were from Biology and Physics concepts. Some questions included:
- For which snake is the diet mainly composed of other snakes?
Answer: King Cobra - A typical human ribcage consists of how many ribs?
Answer: 24 - From the evolutionary point of view, which is the most primitive animal?
Answer: Turtle - Which converts milk into curd?
Answer: Bacteria - Why is a convex mirror used as a rear-view mirror?
Answer: It forms erect and diminished images - “Mho” is the unit of which quantity?
Answer: Specific conductance - What is the approximate velocity of light per second?
Answer: 3 × 10⁸ m/s - To throw a cricket ball to maximum distance, at what angle should it be thrown?
Answer: 45°
Key Message for AFNS Candidates
One thing is clear from these experiences: Intelligence can feel manageable, but the academic portion is where most candidates lose marks. Serious academic preparation is necessary.
Many students prefer structured learning through:
- Quick Courses (fast revision in limited time)
- Special Course (targeted important topics)
- Complete Preparation Courses (full syllabus coverage + most repeated questions)
